ABOUT

Made by an EV installer

I’ve been an electrician for over ten years, on houses, offices, car parks and industrial sites. I’ve fitted more than 1,000 chargers myself, from single chargers on driveways upwards. I’ve also project managed commercial roll outs across many sites, and installs at high-profile sites for some of the UK’s best-known companies. I’ve driven electric for seven years too, in vans and cars, so I know what drivers need from a charge point as well as what it takes to fit one.

My background

  • Electrician and electrical engineer for over ten years, across domestic, commercial and industrial work
  • Project manager on commercial roll outs across many sites, and on installs at high-profile sites for some of the UK’s best-known companies: surveys, programmes, site teams, DNO applications and handover
  • More than 1,000 chargers fitted myself
  • A long-standing focus on accessible charging, and an advocate for it on every site, so that every driver can use the chargers that go in
  • Level 3, 18th Edition and SMSTS
  • Seven years driving electric, in vans and cars

Why I made the planner

On every job I was doing the same things with a tape measure, phone photos and a spreadsheet, then drawing it all up again for the client. I wanted one place to lay out the site, show the client what they were getting and pull the paperwork together.

How that shows in the planner

  • Bays, chargers and cable routes drawn to scale on a site photo, drawing or map
  • Cable lengths and supply checks worked out from the plan
  • Load and supply details to help with DNO submissions
  • Accessibility guided as you design: a lead that reaches every bay, sockets in the PAS 1899 reach band, accessible routes and walkways, and PAS 1899 checks in site audits
  • A 3D view so the client can see the layout before work starts
  • Plans and reports ready to hand over

EV Site Planner assists site design decisions. It does not certify electrical work or compliance; a qualified person confirms the design.
