FOR COUNCILS AND SITE OWNERS PROPOSED AND INSTALLED SITES

Site audits

Check a proposed site before any charger goes in, or audit the chargers already on a site. Record what you find with photos, see red, amber or green for each section, and download an evidence pack for a council record or a funding bid.

Audits sum up your answers to support your judgement. They are not a rating or a certificate, and they do not certify compliance.

Before a charger goes in

Proposed sites
  • Land and permissions: the land owner, the boundary and the consents
  • Power and connection: the supply point, its capacity and the likely connection
  • Street, layout and access: bays, footways, kerbs and the walk from each bay
  • Need and use: who the site is for and the local need behind it
  • One answer per check for the whole site

Chargers already on site

Installed sites
  • Accessibility against PAS 1899:2022, from the bay size to the height of the socket
  • Payment and consumer checks under the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023
  • Highways and streetscape: signs, traffic orders, footway width and clutter
  • Electrical records: the certificates, labels and equipment you can see, never a test
  • Funding and contract: the grant conditions, who owns the chargers and the operator’s terms
  • Checks per chargepoint where each one can differ

Evidence as you go

On site, on an iPad or phone
  • Up to four photos for each check, with a note and the reason
  • Measurements recorded with the answer they support
  • Copy a chargepoint’s answers to the next one that matches
  • Mark a whole section as not applying, with one reason
  • Keeps working with no signal, saved on your device

Red, amber or green

For the report and the register
  • Red for any fail, amber for any action needed, green when every check passes
  • A result for each section and for the whole site
  • An evidence pack PDF with your name and logo
  • A site check register of every site, as a spreadsheet file and a map file
  • Proposed sites ranked so the best ones come first

The colours sum up the answers given. A qualified person confirms the design and the electrical work.
